Serta Mattress Facilities

Project

The Serta Mattress Facilities consist of the construction of a 210,000 GSF five-story corporate office building, a 168,000 GSF parking structure with approximately 550 parking spaces, and a 72,000 GSF Research & Development / Light Manufacturing Building.

The project site is approximately 4.75 acres and is located on the former General Motors factory site in Doraville, Georgia. Willmer was contracted by the owner to provide oversight of the contractor’s quality control (QC) program, for work performed by others working for the contractor DPR Hardin, to ensure all inspections and materials testing were completed in accordance with the contract documents and all QC procedures and processes were followed. Willmer’s engineer reviewed all daily field reports, RFIs, meeting minutes, and any other items related to the QC program.

Additionally, Willmer performed Special Inspections and testing to include the following for each structure:

Corporate Office Building; auger-cast in place pile load test and installation monitoring, rebar and post-tensioning inspections, masonry inspections and grout testing, concrete sampling and testing.
Parking Structure; footing foundation bearing capacity evaluations, rebar inspections, concrete sampling and testing, structural steel inspections.
R&D / Light Manufacturing Building; shallow foundation bearing capacity evaluations, rebar inspections, concrete sampling and testing, structural steel inspections.
